Comparison of the Genes for 47 Kd Proteins of Rickettsia tustsugamushi 4 Strains

Abstract

|
The 47Kd protein is one of the major surface proteins of Rickettsia and elicits strong antibody responses in infected humans. In order to study whether this protein induces protective immunity, we cloned and sequenced the gene for it. Previously
we
reported the nucleotide sequence of 47Kd protein gene from Kato serotype. In this nucleotide sequences for 47Kd protein from other standerd serotypes Gilliam(Genbank Accession No; L31933), Karp(Accession No; L31935), a Korean isolate, were
determined by
polimerase chain reaction. When aligned properly, the genes for 47Kd protein from 4 serotypes showed 96-99% homology.
